4th September 2024, I visited Kobe Beef Daia Kokusai Dori in Tokyo, and I was extremely disappointed. I paid ¥33,440 (200€) for a 220g Kobe beef steak.
While the food itself was delicious, everything else about the experience was unacceptable.
The restaurant lacked sophistication; the walls were covered with large photos of food and prices, which ruined the atmosphere for a relaxed dining experience. The chopsticks provided were bad quality (the cheapest ones), not what I would expect in a high-end establishment.
Moreover, the waiter pressured me to leave a good review on Google Maps during my meal, even bringing a "trophy" to take pictures with my food and repeatedly insisting on the review instead of letting me enjoy my meal.
The sake was served in a container that didn't appear very clean, which added to the discomfort.
When I asked about the quality of the Kobe beef, the staff said it was "A5," but this important detail was not mentioned on the menu, especially given the high price.
My previous experiences eating Kobe beef in other Tokyo restaurants were much better, where the staff was knowledgeable and professional.
I would not recommend this restaurant to other tourists. Although the food was tasty, the overall experience did not justify the high cost.
